North Baddesley, Southampton
This modern kitchen was designed as the focal point of a large, open plan and multifunctional living space, which called for a style more like furniture than kitchen units. Hiding away the appliances behind doors, together we also designed a large pantry style cupboard where the doors open and cleverly slide back into the unit allowing full and easy access to the toaster and kettle. The divider-style island was designed with drawers to make the best use of the available storage space on the cooking side, and plain cupboards on the other to blend with the casual family living room. The island top was built from 40mm thick extra wide oak boards to give a warm homely feel, and the kitchen was finished with two paint colours, Farrow & Ball “De Nimes” on the island and sink run and Farrow & Ball “White Tie” on the rest of the units to complete the blended look.
Project cost £24,400 (excluding appliances)
